Whenever we are going to clean a grill, the ideal is to do it once we have finished using the appliance, when it is still a little hot. However, it is not usually done at this time, either out of laziness or forgetfulness.

When we do not clean the grill after use and let it cool down, we find ourselves with a dirty grill full of grease that is sometimes difficult to remove.

How to clean the grill

Let’s see how to clean the barbecue grill, both hot and cold.

When the grill is still hot, we can remove the remains of grease and dirt quickly and effectively. Grease, as it has not yet cooled down, is much easier to remove than when it is cold and dry. On the other hand, cold cleaning is more complicated, the grease sticks and solidifies to the grill, however, this cleaning is safer and more thorough.

You can take advantage of the cooling of the grill to perform a deep cleaning.

First of all, we must remove all the remains of ashes and embers from the container. You must have a metal brush for cleaning.

Next, you should clean the drawer with warm or hot water and a little soap. If there are grease residues, remove them with the wire brush. Spray a powerful grease remover on the grill and let it act for a few minutes (10-15 min) before rubbing with the wire brush.

Finally, rinse with abundant water, better if it is warm or hot water, to avoid leaving grease residues on it.

How to clean a rusty grill

The biggest enemy of this type of appliance is rust. If we observe brown spots on our appliance, the best thing to do is to clean it with white cleaning vinegar.

Spray vinegar on the grills and let it act for a few minutes. Afterwards, wipe off the vinegar with a damp cloth and dry it with a dry cloth or kitchen paper. It will be as good as new!
